CD Project Red’s Cyberpunk Multiplayer / Development

CD Projekt Red also announced that it will be developing AAA games in both The Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises simultaneously in 2022. Only time will tell if this stays true to their intent to minimize stressful conditions.

CD Projekt Red also announced that they will be looking into bringing an online or multiplayer component into all of their games (not just Cyberpunk). With that being said, they initially had planned for Cyberpunk to be “the one” that would do it but now only time will tell if this will come to reality. Fans should not expect this anytime soon as CDPR (Cd Projekt Red) is still implementing bugs / fixes for the game and has planned DLCs as well as a next gen upgrade.

Finally CDPR will be says they will be changing their marketing campaign strategy moving forward. They will be waiting closer to release / the game being finished before showing in depth gameplay. They will also manage expectations better and do better at keeping the reality grounded in terms of what gamers are to expect. Here’s hoping things get better!

WB Games’ Nemesis System Patent Gets Approved

Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, have been approved for their patent of their Middle Earth franchise’s Nemesis System which goes into effect on February 23rd and can extend to 2035 if they keep up with the necessary fees.

The patent is named as the “Nemesis characters, nemesis forts, social vendettas and followers in computer games,” which says the functions of Monolith’s Nemesis system & sum of its parts as the property of WB.

The nemesis system is pretty much a system that makes the enemies of the Middle Earth: Shadow games reappear as newly procedurally-generated NPCs that appear in a hierarchy as well as remember the players’ actions. Their ranking, appearance and behavior can be affected by the players’ actions.

Warner Bros. has been at this since 2015 and have finally acquired it. Moments like this really divide the gaming community apart as this would be bad news if other companies haven’t already created their own take on “the nemesis system”. Assassins Creed Odyssey did “the mercenaries system” and Watch Dogs Legion does the “Census system” which both aren’t exactly the same however they’re both very similar in concept. Those are just two examples but severing the option of creativity for other developers is a crime for not only the fans but creators as well.

Nintendo Documentary Debuts In March 2021

Playing With Power: The Nintendo Story is a five part documentary series that will debut on March 1, 2021 on Crackle. This film will have interviews from very prominent / iconic figures at Nintendo including Reggie Fills-Aime, Ron Judy and even Xbox’s Phil Spencer. Snead said, “Producing and directing Playing with Power has been a lifelong ambition of mine as an artist, gamer and filmmaker… To see my show not only come to life with such loving care through my team and I’s efforts but to also have the opportunity to partner with such a talented and experienced team like Screen Media and Crackle to release the series to the public has just been a dream come true”.

Prince of Persia Remake Delayed

Ubisoft announced that their upcoming remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has again been delayed with no concrete date. Their statement can be found on the Prince of Persia’s official twitter account (Below):

This may have to do with the mixed reaction to this games announcement. While many fans were excited to return back to this iconic franchise, many were disappointed at the remake’s appearance in comparison to other prominent remakes such as Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy VII and Crash / Spyro. Companies have watched the result of Cyberpunk paying the price for releasing too early.

The remake was initially set to be released in January only to be pushed back to March 18, now no date in sight. The price is set to be $39.99 and will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store, the Ubisoft store on Windows, and UPlay+ as well as next gen consoles via backwards compatibility.
